Andy Davis, President
As president, Andy Davis brings deep experience in both health care and public accounting to Carney Hospital.
Davis began his career as a certified public accountant and member of the health care services team for an accounting firm in Pensacola, Fla., in 1993. In 1998, he then joined Baptist Health Care in Pensacola as the hospital’s director of internal audit. While at Baptist Health Care, Davis also served as a member of the measurement team for patient satisfaction. Baptist Health Care was and still remains a nationally recognized leader in patient satisfaction.
Davis joined Health Management Associates (HMA) in 2000 and was subsequently appointed to a series of posts with HMA, including assistant chief financial officer for a hospital in Anniston, Ala., chief financial officer in Van Buren, Ark., and then chief operating officer for the Franklin Regional Medical Center in Louisburg, N.C.
Most recently, Davis served as the chief executive officer of the Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville, N.C., where he oversaw the successful expansion of the hospital’s cardiology service line, the development of a geriatric unit and renovations to the hospital’s behavioral health and obstetrics services. In 2011, the hospital was named one of the nation’s top performers on key quality measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. Davis Regional was one of only 405 U. hospitals and critical access hospitals to earn the distinction of top performer on key quality measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance.
Prior to Davis Regional, he led the Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet, N.C., as the hospital’s chief executive officer, where he oversaw an increase in the hospital’s overall bed capacity, enhanced Sandhills’ radiology services and launched a state-of-the-art wound care center.
A hallmark of Davis’ career has been his consistent involvement in community organizations and charities wherever his work has taken him, including local chambers of commerce, the United Way, Rotary, hospice organizations and workforce development programs.
Davis earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from Troy State University and he is a certified public accountant. He also played four years of varsity basketball for Troy State University. Davis and his wife, Sonya, are the proud parents of a teenage daughter.
Alexander White, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs
Alexander White, MD, serves as the vice president of Medical Affairs for Carney Hospital. In this role, White oversees the Quality and Safety Division, as well as the pharmacy, medical staff office, care management and the hospital’s medical library. This position also includes the supervision of patient care coordination, in which, White reinforces a culture of safety for the hospital.
White is also a member of the Pulmonary Medicine Department with the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, Mass. At New England Sinai, White has held a number of key leadership positions including, having served as a member of the hospital’s strategic planning committee and chief of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. Most recently, he served as New England Sinai’s chief quality officer and as chairman of the Medical Practice Improvement Committee.
He has served as president of the Massachusetts Thoracic Society (2010 to 2012) and is director of the Rose Kalman Research Center at New England Sinai Hospital. An associate professor of medicine with the Tufts University School of Medicine, White is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, the American Thoracic Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians.
White earned a degree in microbiology and his medical degrees from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. He completed postgraduate medical training with Dr. Steeven’s Hospital in Dublin, his medical residency at the Federated Dublin Voluntary Hospitals and Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
He obtained a MS in Clinical Care Research from the Tufts University, Sackler School of Biomedical Sciences.
Christian Stroucken, Chief Operating Officer
Christian Stroucken serves as Carney
Hospital’s chief operating
officer. An accomplished hospital
executive, Stroucken comes to Carney
from University Medical Center, a
245-bed hospital in Lebanon, Tenn.,
where he served as the chief operating
officer. In that role, Christian oversaw
the development and introduction of an
organization-wide patient satisfaction
initiative, managed strategic
acquisitions and directed operations for
the emergency room, operating room, and
departments. Stroucken also
supervised the design and construction
of a new outpatient surgery center for
Jacqueline Bergeron, DNP, MS, BSN, RN, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Officer
Jacqueline Bergeron serves as Carney Hospital's chief nursing officer and vice president of clinical services. A senior health care professional, Bergeron brings a wealth of clinical and administrative experience to Carney Hospital.
Bergeron comes to Carney Hospital from Lahey Hospital in Burlington, Mass, where she served as the associate chief nurse for Lahey’s medical/surgical units. Prior to Lahey, Bergeron had a distinguished tenure with UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass, including having served as the associate chief nursing officer of the inpatient medical center and interim CNO.
As a nurse leader, Bergeron has supervised and directed a broad range of medical units and service areas, including ambulatory clinics, ICU, dialysis, IV department, hematology-oncology and a medical short stay unit, among other clinical service areas.
Bergeron holds a doctor of nursing practice from the University of Massachusetts Graduate School of Nursing, in Worcester, where she received the Chancellor’s Award for academic excellence.
