Cardiovascular disease comes in many different forms and the world class physicians and surgeons at the Steward Center for Advanced Cardiac Surgery are experts in diagnosing a variety of these cardiac conditions.
In addition to treating coronary artery disease, which includes prevention or alleviation of chest pain and heart failure or heart attack, our skilled surgeons also treat aortic valve disease, heart valve defects, and aortic aneurysms.
Some of the conditions we treat include:
Coronary artery disease, the narrowing of the arteries that lead to the heart, is the most common form of heart disease and is the leading cause of death worldwide. →
Aortic valve diseaseis a condition in which the valve between the left ventricle (main pumping chamber) of the heart and the aorta (main artery) to the body doesn't work properly. →
Mitral valve diseaseoccurs when the valve between the left atrium and left ventricle of the heart doesn't work properly causing either a narrowing of the opening or leakage of blood back into the left atrium. →
The aorta is the largest artery in the body and when affected by disease it can spilt or bulge (aneurism), potentially leading to fatal results. →
