This course, offered in an intensive one-day session or a five-week session, provides new and seasoned parents with an overview of labor and delivery, including breathing and relaxation techniques, medication options, labor room procedures, what to expect after your baby is born, and a tour of the maternity unit. Meet with a certified lactation consultant and learn everything you need to know about breastfeeding, during this 2.5-hour class. Topics covered include answers to frequently asked questions, how to choose a breast pump, and advice and support for pregnant and lactating women. Come during your last trimester and bring a guest. This program provides nutrition counseling, health education and other services to families to ensure that the nutritional needs of pregnant women and children in the community are met. Call 617-254-0492 for more information.
This free program brings together new mothers, with babies from birth to six months, in a forum to receive breastfeeding education and support from a board-certified lactation consultant. This group also provides infant massage instruction and developmental support several times each month. The class meets Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the 5th floor of St. Margaret’s Center, conference room 6.
