Kevin Hannifan
President, St.
Elizabeth's Medical Center
Kevin Hannifan is president of St.
Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Hannifan
brings 33 years of knowledge and skills
in the health care industry to St.
Elizabeth’s and the Greater Brighton
community. Prior to joining Steward,
Hannifan was the senior vice president
for operations for the Tisch and Rusk
Hospitals in New York, N.Y., and the
executive vice president and chief
operating officer at Hartford Hospital
in Hartford, Conn. He also has served as
chief executive officer at Methodist
Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University
Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. Hannifan
holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics
from Catholic University and a Masters
in Health Administration from Duke
University.

Terry J. Garfinkle, MD, MBA
Vice President of Medical Affairs, St.
Elizabeth's Medical Center
Terry J. Garfinkle, MD, MBA, serves as
St. Elizabeth's vice president of
Medical Affairs. Dr. Garfinkle oversees
Quality and Safety, the Medical Staff
Office and Medical Staff Library. In
addition, he serves as a member of our
senior leadership team and medical staff
executive committee, among others.
Before joining St. Elizabeth's, Dr.
Garfinkle served as medical director the
Mass General/North Shore Center for
Outpatient Care in Danvers and chief of
Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at
the North Shore Medical Center in Salem.
His area of clinical practice is
otolaryngology-head and neck surgery
with particular interest in pediatrics
and otology. He was president and a
founding director of the Massachusetts
Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck
Surgery and a member of the Board of
Governors of the American Academy of
Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Garfinkle received his BS from the
University of Pennsylvania and his MD
from George Washington University School
of Medicine. He completed his residency
and training in otolaryngology at the
University of Pennsylvania and his MBA
from the George Washington University
School of Business and Public
Management.

Nathan Howell
Chief Operating Officer, St. Elizabeth's
Medical Center
Nathan Howell is the chief operating
officer at at St. Elizabeth’s
Medical Center. Howell brings
experience in improving patient care and
patient satisfaction, growing inpatient
and outpatient service lines and leading
facilities modernization projects.
Before joining St. Elizabeth's, Howell
served as chief operating officer for
three different hospitals, including
Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania, Midwest
Regional Medical Center in Oklahoma
City, Okla., and Crossgates River Oaks
Hospital in Brandon, Miss. He also
worked for several years for John
Hancock Financial Services.
Nathan earned an MBA from the Johnson
Graduate School of Management at Cornell
University and a bachelor of arts in
sociology from Colby College.

Suzanne G. McLaughlin, RN, MBA
Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President
for Patient Care, St. Elizabeth’s
Medical Center
Suzanne G. McLaughlin, RN, MBA, a
tremendous leader with more than thirty
years of achievements as a health care
executive, is the chief nursing officer
and vice president for Patient Care at
St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. She
joined St. Elizabeth’s in April 2011.
For the 10 years prior to joining St.
Elizabeth’s, she was both chief
operating officer and chief nursing
officer at Saint Francis Hospital and
Health Centers, a 330-bed Catholic
hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Previously, she was the first vice
president of Patient Care Services at
Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton,
which was established by the 1993 merger
of the Goddard and Cardinal Cushing
hospitals. Good Samaritan is a Steward
Health Care hospital. She also served as
director and then vice president of
patient care at the former Goddard
Memorial Hospital in Stoughton.
McLaughlin holds a bachelor’s degree in
nursing from Saint Olaf College in
Minnesota and an MBA in health care
management from Boston University. She
has been recognized with awards from
community and business leaders,
physician groups and nurses
associations.

Denise Mehegan, RN
Director of Quality and Safety, St.
Elizabeth’s Medical Center
Denise Mehegan, RN, serves as St.
Elizabeth’s Director of Quality and
Safety. Mehegan leads the hospital’s
ongoing development of comprehensive
quality and patient safety programs and
is responsible for ensuring clinical and
service excellence.
Before joining St. Elizabeth’s, Mehegan
served as Director of Regulatory
Compliance at Boston Medical Center.
Previously, she was the Director of
Quality Improvement and Risk Management
at Boston Medical Center. She is also a
member of the Massachusetts and American
Society of Healthcare Risk Managers and
the Massachusetts Coalition for the
Prevention of Medical Errors.
Mehegan holds a bachelor's degree from
the University of Massachusetts in
Boston, Mass., and received her degree
in nursing from the Laboure School of
Nursing in Boston.

Jeffrey P. Dion
Vice President of Finance, St.
Elizabeth's Medical Center
Jeffrey P. Dion serves as vice president
of finance at St. Elizabeth’s Medical
Center, overseeing all budget functions
and managing all aspects of accounts,
payroll, general accounting and revenue
cycle
Previously, Dion served for more than
three years as the chief financial
officer of the 75-bed Marlborough
Hospital, a member of the
UMass Memorial Health Care system.
Before joining Marlborough Hospital, he
was worked for UMass Memorial Health
Care system for eleven years where he
took on roles of increasing
responsibility. He also worked for
Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group
in Boston and ProForma Consulting Group
in Concord, Mass.
Dion, who lives in North Andover, holds
a Master of Business Administration
degree from Duke University, and a
bachelor's in economics from Dartmouth
College.
